



Look at these photos: the bright blue of the Morning Glories and the vivid pink of the Hibiscus. These were taken in early August. Then, see the trellis without the wonderful blue, and the hibiscus stems with no flowers. What a difference. It is color that made these images come alive.
Once again, it is detail: in this case the "detail"
of color that has made these images so
wonderful. No, it's not the absence of color but
the colorful detail that has changed.
For me, it is this attention to color that makes
design so interesting. Whether it is the flowers,
or the color of painted walls, or a small bead on
a necklace.... this is surely the essence of "design."
